TO ECAPP, Water
for Africa program is a mulit- year
program (2001-2002 and 2004-2007)
being implemented in the peri-urban
communities of towns and cities in
five countries in the East and Central
African Region. The countries involved
are Malawi and Zambia in the central
Africa, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda
in the East African region. The regional
coordination office is based in Kampala,
Uganda . |

The program acquired its funding from
the Government of the United States
of America (USA) [both from the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency and
the U.S. State Department] and Water
For People, a non-governmental organization
of the USA origin based in Denver,
Colorado, was selected as a partner
to help implement the program.
Selected
African community-based NGOs implemented
the Water for Africa Program in the
five participating countries. Through
a rigorous selection process, successful
NGOs were selected in each country.
